On October 6, Chicago CRED Director of Policy Jack Jomarron was honored with the Innovation in Violence Prevention Award from the City of Chicago during the Safety is Belonging: Honoring Prevention, Intervention and Healing ceremony at Malcolm X College.

The ceremony brought together leaders, organizations, and individuals who are working every day in community violence intervention (CVI) to help make Chicago a safer, healthier, and more connected city. It was an important opportunity to recognize the dedication and impact of those committed to preventing violence, supporting healing, and creating pathways to opportunity for Chicago communities.

We are especially proud to celebrate Jack and this well-deserved recognition. Through his tireless work, Jack provides critical data, research, and strategic insight that helps inform and strengthen efforts to reduce violence across Chicago. His commitment to using data to better understand violence and identify effective solutions is an essential part of building smarter, more collaborative approaches to violence prevention.

Jack’s work reflects the power of combining data and strategy with the lived experience and expertise of communities. His leadership helps ensure that violence prevention efforts are grounded in evidence while remaining focused on the people and neighborhoods at the heart of this work.

Congratulations to Jack on receiving the Innovation in Violence Prevention Award, and thank you to the City of Chicago for recognizing his contributions and the contributions of so many others working in CVI.

Most importantly, we celebrate everyone honored during this ceremony and all those who continue to dedicate their time, talent, and energy to prevention, intervention, and healing. Together, their work is helping build a safer Chicago where every person and community has the opportunity to thrive.
